On Monday Dec. 17, 2001, our S.T.L.P. students had the opportunity to learn how to be Cyber Reporters. They took digital pictures of the Olympic Torch Relay Runner that past by Harrison. Here are a couple of the articles written by the students. The Olympic Torch by Shelby On Monday December 17, 2001 The Olympic Torch Relay went right past Harrison Elementary. All the students went outside in the wet and cold on that day. They all stood on the back side of the school on Jefferson Street. I think that all the students enjoyed this moment. All the classes made signs, hats, and other things like that. All of the classes looked fantastic. All the S.T.L.P. participated in being Cyber Reporters. All the students took pictures with digital cameras. They all got fantastic pictures. All the pictures turned out very well. Mr. Mel Boyd and Stephanie McKinney ran in this relay. Mel Boyd is a Kiwanis man that comes to see Mrs. Moore's kindergarten class. He ran two legs with the torch. He kept running to see his class. Stephanie McKinney ran with the torch also. I hope you liked my article on the Olympic Torch Relay.
Harrison Witnessed The Olympic Torch By Jazmene On Monday January 17, 2001 the Olympic came by Harrison Elementary. It was a wonderful day for the students and staff at Harrison Elementary. They witnessed the Olympic Torch pass through the town. The students all got ready by making signs, headbands, paper torches, and kids from S.T.L.P. called CYBER REPORTERS took pictures of the Torch as it went by and the kids cheered. Even though it was cold and wet we still cheered on the runners. Ms. Wiles our principal got a picture with one of the runners Mr. Mel Boyd (one of the Kiwanis club members). It was a funny sight!!! Mrs. Owiny one of the teachers got her picture taken with him also.
